EMBOLISM : (OPTIC)
Patient: Timothy Gutierrez Date: 09:18:2007 Body Part: Right Eye Symptoms: Extreme Blurred Vision, Loss of Detail
Diagnosis: Embolism (clot) in membrane allowing blood to collect in a mass and alter vision
Suspected Cause: Tests Pending Cure: None

Above is a photograph taken by a retina specialist. Both photos are of the patients right eye. The photo should be looked at as if looking into the eye. The pupil would be in the center of eye (in front of this view). This view is what has taken place behind the front of the eye. The blood mass cannot be seen from the outside of the body without aid of special lighting. This mass is what has caused the impairment of vision. In one third of patients the mass will subside naturally to varying degrees and allow some normal vision to return. Other patients must undergo laser procedures to preserve their remaining quality of sight and possibly control or reduce the swelling caused by the embolism. In those cases the vision loss is most likely irreversible. The above example will be monitored for three months before deciding what course of action (if any) is necessary.
